Polo Facilities


The Central Valley Polo Club offers two top quality grass polo fields as well as ten paddocks as stabling facilities. Additional stabling facilities are available at nearby ranches to accommodate up to 100 horses.

   

Season: The Central Valley Polo Club season typically runs from March through October with practice games being played on Wednesdays and tournament games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the season, games are typically played at 6 to 8 goals with a 10- 12 goal league played in the fall.

Professional Players: Mike Conant (5 goals), Dan Juarez (4 goals) Tom Conant (3 goals), Mark Demetre (3 goals)

Other Facilities: Players and guests can enjoy relaxing, nature walks, swimming and golf and at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club located approximately 1 mile from the Central Valley Polo Clubhouse. Lodging and dinning are also available at Stevinson Ranch. For more information, call (209) 668-8200. In addition, the Stevinson Sportman's Club located 5 minutes away, offers a variety of hunting activities including duck hunting, pheasant and chucker shoots, sporting clays, and 5 stand trap and skeet. Guides and dogs are available upon request.

   

Access to Central Valley Polo Club: For commercial flights, local airports include Modesto and Merced, which are approximately 30 to 40 minutes from the club. Major airports are located in Sacramento, Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose and are all approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours from the club. Private aircraft can use the Gustine airport, which is only 5 minutes from the club.

Additional Information and History: Central Valley Polo Club was established in 1949 by Jack Conant, a well-known polo figure in California over the last 50 years. In 1995, the Central Valley Polo Club purchased 20 acres and developed its main field and clubhouse. Bob and Kevin Kelley, two of the club's charter members, privately own the second field, which is located 5 minutes away. Everyone who has played at the Central Valley Polo Club recognizes that the club has the two finest fields in Northern California. There are approximately 20 members ranging in handicaps from -1 to 5 goals.
