This is an advance notice of the upcoming Arena Umpire Certification Clinic that will be put on by USPA Head Umpire Steve Lane, assisted by USPA Exec. Director David Cummings and USPA Arena Chairman Tom Goodspeed. The Clinic will be held at San Diego Polo Club - see tentative schedule listed below (Thursday Afternoon and Saturday Morning will be Outdoor/Grass review of
2002 rules) Arena - Friday all day, Saturday PM/Evening., Sunday good portion of the day will be 100% Arena.

We are asking each Arena Club (San Diego, Playa Grande, Santa Barbara, Calif. Polo, Poway, Tri Valley, Centaur and others) to make recommendations on who should attend and become Arena Certified. You need to be a current USPA member in order to become certified. We would like 2 from each Club. This will be at the 0 - 4/6 goal level, where most of the local club polo is played. The intent is to have good club umpires certified & use these certified umpires to raise the level of club umpiring & improve club play.

It will be possible to attend the clinic as a monitor to improve your
Skills.

We need everyone to bring horses for both Umpiring and playing. More information on stabling and costs to come.

It is important to get a list of people your club wants to attend this
clinic, it is the first in the USA and will be the model for upcoming Arena
Clinics - please give me your input as I am acting as the email
correspondent for this event - we need to see you there participating

We are set for May 30, 31, June 1-2, 2002. Steve will change his
schedule. The schedule will be as we discussed:

Thursday afternoon - Outside Rules Review with Pros
Friday (all day) - Arena Rules Review (am) & Games
in afternoon (2)
Saturday (AM) - Outdoor Rules Review with Sponsors
Saturday (PM) - Video review/Rules Review & Games
Sunday (all day) -Rules Wrap up and Games
